Why dont you buy a new un, the combined Tig/Arc Mini un does not cost the earth nowadays, gets a bit more expensive if u want an AC/DC jobbie. What u want to use it for I know a nice man that gets good deals

To be honest, Shug I'd love an AC / DC Unit so I could recoupe some of it's cost welding aluminium. It'd be nice to be able to weld everything (notwithstanding getting the right gases)
I have watched a few units on EBay and they are either brand new, 110v from the states or 3 phase, which isn't an option.
I might have to reside myself to the fact I can't afford an AC Welder. Second hand, single phase would be perfect, at the right price.

I just got a three phase AC/DC jobbie yesterday my first attempt made the single phase one I have to hand look sad Although it is a good quality unit for the price. AC/DC, HF start and your looking at sub £1000 for somthing that cuts the mustard. How much u willing to spend? I will be talking to my mate on Monday he's the contract manager for a very well know manufacturer in Scotland and should be able to get an ex commercial hire unit thats been returned as a trade in for u at reasonable cost, I have had three similar machines off him and had no trouble with em in 4 years
Hes dropping by my shop on Monday with some gear for me. If u give me an idea of
intended use, Amperage and voltage required I will ask him what hes got available at the mo.
Shug.
