Silver Top Zetec + Bits

Hi Everyone,

New project needs an engine so I'm after a silver top Zetec, would prefer a 2.0L but would consider the 1.8L, low mileage would be nice.

Also after bits like flywheel, coil pack, leads, etc.

(Also after a Hewland Mk9 once the bank balance recovers!)

Thanks Charles

I've got a spare std flywheel and probably coil pack and leads, but not the nearest in Essex! Let me know if you get stuck, and maybe we can sort something out.

There was a full setup posted in the fir sale section this week. It included a gearbox as well.

Cheers, will get in touch if I end up with a bare engine.

Saw that, unfortunately most of it wouldn't have fitted, about the only bit i'd have used was the bare engine.

Ease of installation, as I understand the engine mounts and the water pump on the black top are different.

It was a case of if I can find a silver top it would be great, if not I'll pick up a black top!

Yes years ago it was an easier install but not by much. Now the silver top escort waterpump pulley is harder to get I would say from scratch the black top is easier to install As the sump can be done diy so can the water pump idler.

The engine mounts make no odds if you are starting from scratch either.

The rest is the same.

Anything after Aug 95 will need a cat for iva. The last of the silvertop came out in 1997 Blacktops where still in the ford focus untill around 2004 and can still be bought spanking brand new. Blacktops are cheap as chips.

I thought the engine mounts were the same apart from the Blacktop having newer mounts added near the cambelt area, which wouldn't be used by a Westie anyway?

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure

Not going in the Westfield, love the mighty Crossflow way too much! As I understood the bolt patterns were different on the black tops engine mounts.

Anyway think I've sourced an engine.

Thanks for your help everyone!
