1.4 K series
Hi,anyone out there with a spare or unwanted 1.4 k series-want to put in MK.
Suffolk/Essex/Norfolk/Cambridgeshire area.
Ideally free but may be able to find a FEW readies for low mileage with all ancillaries and history?
Also bellhousing for type 9 to K?

If only you'd posted three weeks ago, I had one that would have fit the bill. Still got the radiator of that's any help?
A bit of slapstick never hurt anyone.

Mike,
I know someone who has a 1.4MPi I think which he would probably part with. He bought it to put in his GTM K3 and then sold the car. I believe it is
low mileage with all the stuff, BUT I don't know if you'll get it for free!
U2U me and I'll try to get an up to date e-mail address. I just rang him, but his wife says he's away at the moment.

I think that there will be quite a few cheap rovers for sale in the next few months
I wonder what the spares situation will be like soon?
Personally i'd keep the pinto,it'll last longer if its in good nick!
I actually think the K series didn't help Rover at all with their sales,I am biased though!
Once I've finished a project why do I start another?

Whereas I think the opposite is true. Rover didn't help the 'k' series.
Lack of development money meant the engine only became what it should've been too late.
Ironically it has taken everyone else years to catch up so it needn't have been hurried.
Look how many attempts Ford have had in the time the 'K' has been on sale and in the end they had to use Mazda's Duratec before they
had a real winner.

Was tht a Dig?Biased!I've run four 216 (honda) cars,a 214,and a superb 220GTI,I've driven all the engine types and i've bought
,broken and sold close to 400 Rovers,as well as having close to 80 Land rovers and Range Rovers pass through my business,I do LIKE Rovers its just the
K series I was biased against!
Rover have made some very good cars over the years, and engines.
At the time when I started building my Indy I had a yard full of Rover engines to choose from for free, after discounting the excellent M and T series
due to weight, and knowing the super Honda 1600 twin cam runs the wrong way I went for my 4age engine.I did consider a lively single cam K series from
a metro as these dont seem to have anywhere near the same problems.
My opinion is based on the fact that I have run a garage repair business and a Rover specialist breakers yard, and I am a trained mechanical
engineer.
I did not slag off the K series to look clever on here, merely to point out their lack of longevity,I hope you can now understand my feelings were
through experiance and not trying to be a know it all, which I definately dont.
All the best

A dig?
Dean, calm down.I am biased that although alot of people in general like to knock rovers and the K series I like yourself just love them-afterall
wheres the fun in a motor if you dont have to tinker?Well life may be easier I suppose?!
Certainly no dig intended,regards mike
