Type 9 Mount Plate

I'm in need of the Mounting Plate (pic below taken from Luego manual, hope they don't mind!) and rubber to mount a type 9 gearbox to my Locost chassis. Can't find any local scrappies who have a Sierra in for me to scavange! Anyone got these bits lying around in their garage that they don't need?

Cheers,
Rob.

i've got an old sierra rubber mount, though for £12 I can recommend the stiffer westfield item, the sierra one is very sloppy...

Agree about getting the Westfield one.

Whole bloody engine moves when you change gear with the Sierra one.

However- it isnt the same dimensions as the Sierra- it's taller (approx 1" and the holes are spaced close together so you'll need to change the chassis mount a little.

HTH,
James

Thanks for the responses, I need the actual mounting plate as well as the rubber. For now I just want to get the engine & 'box trial fitted to check measurements etc, but am struggling without the plate.

Does the Westfield rubber fit with the original sierra plate?

can you define 'original sierra plate' ?

the sierra's mount is rubber moulded/vulcanised onto a small (pressed?) steel plate which then bolts onto a sort of cross member iirc...

the plate the rubber is moulded to should be all you need as the other bit is far too large to go anywhere near a locost transmission tunnel mouth..

Ned.

ps you can have the one i've got if you're coming to stoneleigh?!

I got the picture I attached above from the Luego build manual, and made the assumption that this (the orange part) is the "original sierra plate"... correct me if I am wrong? The gearbox I have has no mountings with it at all, so I'm not talking from a position of great knowledge here!

I had a look at the Westfield item on their website, and this appeared to be just a rubber mount, with no metal plate attached.

Ned, presumably the bit you have is a rubber mount moulded to a metal plate that is similar to the one in the picture above?
Unfortunately I cannot make it to Stoneleigh (otherwise I would have had some of the PU adhesive from you also!).

the orange bit in the pic is the part, yup.

the one here on westfields site is shown upside down and is metal with a moulded stiff rubber insert..

Yep the rubber is moulded into the centre plate, the plate when fitted to the sierra is then fixed via rivets (2) to a much larger cradle of which we discard.

The ford rubber mount is soft but not unusable.

Thanks for this info, I could not work out the picture on the Westfield site, never having seen the mount from upside down!

MNR have promised to send me one (thanks MNR!), so looks like I am sorted. If that falls through, Ned I'll take yours - obviously I'll send an SAE or whatever to cover postage.

Thanks,
Rob.
