rivnut tool
where is the best place to get a rivnut tool i plan to only use it for one car but i have seen posts on here that have said the tool has broken after
two rivnuts have been fitted
cribo is coming and i need to get my list in before the kidds start with theirs

Depends on how easy you want it to be. MK Sportscars sell one manufactured from a few bits of steel. Does the job - I know of two car's being
built with one tool so it mus be up to the job.

Iv got a nice one with folding arms which is a riveter and rivnut tool. Does the job a treat. Cost me about 20 - 30 quid.

If u get a non sealy one they are alot cheaper fotr the same thing. They have them on the tools stands at shows. I got mine cheap because i know a
bloke at Lucas who deal with sealy.

If you want one to use regularly, Spiralux are the best, but about £70
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

car builder solutions
am i right to think the budget one in car builder solutions at £20 is a waste of money (it says its for aluminium rivnuts only) and i need to be
paying £60-£80
its a shame because i will probabley only use it a dozen or so times

I have a rivnut tool similar to the cheap version, I have put in about 70-80 rivnuts and it has worked fine with M5 and above but with M4 it tends to
rip the thread on both the rivnut and the mandrel, I have also used it with steel inserts.

Get a decent jobbie. spiralux is superb piece of kit. I use one for work and it is still going strong. Copes with larger diameter no problems at all.
About £69 quid if I remember correctly.

i have just googled spiralux and found a company called lawson his who are offering a Spiralux - 2745 - Insert Tool Set
for £45 pluss vat and £4 carridge is this the model i should be looking for
i dont know how to put up a link

Mine's the same as carbuilder solns one - it's actually made by Textron, a massive American company who supply fasteners to the OEMs.
Shop around, I paid 50 quid for mine. Nicely made, works well, best to lube generously on the sliding bits (as usual!)

Got one exactly the same for £7:95 from Trago Mills near Liskeard. They are OK with the Ally nuts... but the steel ones need Biceps made of steel as
well
Also seen them for about a tenner in Local motorist shops... Made by Laser Tools (all budget kit spanners etc etc)
Also have ab Advel one... which is the B's knees.. long type like the Sealey ones
However... the Long nut cracker ones cant always get in those tight corners etc.. Then the cheapo ones comes into its own. All is not wasted, as it
just made my job that bit easier.

My local bolt supplier had some spiralux lookalikes for £40 in a kit with some rivnuts of various sizes.
