9/16 Tap and appropriate drill bit

Anyone got a 9/16th tap and appropriate drill bit I can borrow for one hole in my aluminium fuel tank?

Of course I will pay the postage if anyone is willing to post me one (I'll send a self addressed Jiffy bag).

Cheers,

Pat...

I should have a 9/16" tap and I can put it in the box with the calipers if you want?

That would be great Wyn and I'll sned it back with the gear display if that's ok???

Do you know what size drill bit - I get it to just over 14mm so hopefully 14mm should be fine in Ali ???

Cheers,

Pat...

No problems. I'll check the drill bit chart and let you know the size - I can't do it now as SWMBO is pi**ed off with me as I've been in the garage selling my Hewland gearbox, and on Tinternet all evening!

I've just searched high and low for my 9/16" tap but can't find it anywhere - sorry!

Recommended tapping drill sizes are available at:

Seems a funny size.

It's not 1/4 bsp is it?

Think Automotive told me my breather valve is 9/16 UNF.

The nut for the same also said 6JIC.

Anyone any clearer?

Just found out that 9/16 and 6JIC are the same.

Get 12.9mm for hole size.

1/2" drill bit in ali ok?

Not sure of the thread pitch - can any one help me out there?

Pat...

1/2" in ally will be fine. I'll dig you out a tap if you want it. 9/16UNF is 18tpi.

Just thought - I should stop being a lazy reformed mancunian.

If I drill my 1/2" hole through my ali tank, can I pop over to yours for you to run your tap through mi 'ole n all that???

It would save you two trips. Let me make sure I've got a tap first, but I'm 99% sure.

I've got 9/16 BSF which is 16tpi, I've got 9/16 UNEF which is 24tpi and a 9/16 UNC. The one I can't find is the 9/16 UNF, sorry.
