conrete mixier
hey there chaps,
has anybody got a concrete mixer that i could borrow for a couple of days in the coventry area? something of similar size to this
i am relaying the garage floor and after the outragous prices ive just got of some builders i would rather do it myself.

Bingo - doing the same here. Although for the first time at this house.
I have had quotes from the likes of spotmix. £282 quid for 2 m3 of concrete. OK, that's barrowed in, but I baulk at that sort of money. If I
were buying by the lorry load, they wouldn't be charging 140 quid a cube - no way.
Now I have my base almost prepared, it looks well do-able with a mixer and a bit of help.
Best of luck finding a mixer - if I were closer, I would half in with you and we could have sold it on afterwards.

Aldi are doing a mixer for 130 quid this thursday.

i dont want to buy one just borrow one, it will only take a couple of days as i am only covering 11 sq yards at 2 inches deep! 3 at most. as i need to
mix the self leveling concrete as well

I could buy that - and the materials for less than the quote I got. At the end I'm left with a mixer which I can use for the brickie and avoid
hire charges. £15 quid a day to hire one - I would need four days hire for the brickie - So in reality buying one only costs me 69 quid.

Well - to start with as a new mixer, they just run clean water around it.
Then on the seocnd or third day they add a half brick to the water and that rumbles around the drum.
By about the middle of the third week, it's clean water, two half bricks and smacking the outside with the drum with the shovel as it
rotates.
A little bit after that when it's a bit more difficult to clean, it's a sledgehammer to the drum while it rotates with half a dozen bricks
and a bucket of water in it.
that's why all the 2nd hand ones on ebay do not have round drums - any more...

lol, i used to do some labouring and if i had to hit the outside of the drum to clean it i would be in doo doo for not keeping it clean prior!! Just
swill it out with a few buckets of water and get and old dust pan brush in there to get out the stuck stuff. We had one 11 years old and inside was
spotless.

Just buy one. Then in ten years when you use it again it'll have paid for itself and you'll be up a cement mixer.

Buy one use it clean it up and bung it on ebay for 100 quid.. Ive gotta do some bricking etc for my patio when i get round to it. Im gonna buy one
and flog it when im done. theres always someone like yourself after one for alittle job.

i would just buy one, but i have to pay DAX £4000 next week so im saving the pennies! if i had an extra £150 i'd be straight down Audi getting
one
