Eek worried now - the stuff I got from Burton Power has no markings but is massively thick rubber with some kind of material wrap. I have the receipt - will that do?

Hi Muzchap,

My SVA inspector had a good squint at my fuel hose for markings (yes it has them in abundance). What I suggest is that if your receipt/ invoice from Burtons has your hose listed as fuel hose, then show that to the inspector, that should be acceptable. Failing that, ask burtons for a data sheet on the hose or some kind of written proof that the hose is suitable for fuel and show that to the inspector. That will also be acceptable.

Just as an aside, if you have any other rubber fuel hose fitted, then that also needs to have appropriate markings visible, even the short bits.
I nearly fell foul of this myself, but by sheer luck I had cut the fuel piping so the markings were visible on all hoses.

cheers

Dave

Muzchap,

Forgot to mention;

If in doubt about your fuel hose etc, give your local SVA inspector a bell and see what his interpretation is.
I rang mine on more than one occasion for advice and he was only too willing to help. In fact, by the time of the sva, he knew me reasonably well as someone who was doing his utmost to conform to the regs. I think this helped on the big day.

Cheers

Dave
