Block of Aluminium wanted
Does anyone here have a block of Aluminium measuring 30mm x 280mm x 220mm knocking around that I could buy? Needs to be in good condition and flat.
Cheers.
Steve.

see if you have an Aalco branch near you, they will probably be able to supply what you need - can't see it being cheap though, thats a paving
slab sized bit of metal!

The aalco pdf I downloaded claims they only go up to 25mm thick for plate (6082-T651, 5083-0/H111)
Though they would probably be able to order some as a special.
Will cost a fortune.

maybe I could use 3x 10mm thicknesses to get what I want. Might be cheaper too.

lol it's a secret
Oh OK then. I am experimenting with making a bellhousing out of a FWD gearbox casing, to mate my type 9 box to a rover k-series engine.
I have the caterham bellhousing that is specific to the conversion, but it means finding a different flywheel to fit it, which is proving difficult.
So I have been chopping and grinding and I reckon it just might work, depending on any clearance issues with the starter motor etc.

Hammerhead, can't you find someone who does that sort of thing?
You could try www.robinson-race-cars.co.uk They do lots of weird and wonderful stuff for their drag racers and if they can't should know someone
who can.
Cheers, Pewe

Hi,
I've got a block of ally in the garage.
I was going to convert a bellhousing, but changed my plans.
May take a few days to get the measurements.
If it's the size you want would you be interested???
I can post cheap too!
Cheers

Hi Scooby,
Thanks for the offer, but I have been working on the design and I think it will be alot easier if I use 3x 10mm thick plates to make the adaptor, It
will be easier for me to machine with my tools. E.g. a drill and hammer!!
