Front wings

What are the general thoughts on positioning the front wingsin relation to the tyre circumference?
I know it depends on model but are there any SVA implications other than edging them?
Looking through the comics it seems to vary widely from lining up with a vertical off the front of the tyre to front edge parallel to the upper wishbone or lighting bracket. Some even seem to line up with the rear lower edge lined up with the front lower edge of the rear wing.
Presumably the further round the tyre they sit = less grit blast to the rear arches?
Cheers, Pewe.

SVA says that a plumb (vertical) line drawn downwards from the front edge of the cycle wing MUST extend forwards of the wheel rim (not tyre)....so in English as long as it comes far enough forwards to extend over the rim you can do what ever you like....Oli.

If your not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room!

One other thing though, is the further forward you have them the less drag they create. Further back might look better, but for aerodynamics, keep them level.

Agreed. Look at the way MNR do their fronts... the cover most of the wheel!

I spose though, if you do have short wings then the further back, the less spray you get over you/the car!

Cheers,
James

Whilst mud flaps may not look the dogs they must stop grit blast to the rears.
Incidentally I'm looking at a stick-on wing liner which should a) reduce spray and b) stop stones crazing the wing top surface from underneath - and better than underseal - any interest? Cheers, Pewe
PS well done James - it'll be Krav maga next!
