'sva test' number plate

To save me having one made up, anyone got a number plate which says 'sva test' on that they dont need any more? I have seen several people with them, and seems like a good idea.

In my opinion you shouldn't display anything in place of a numberplate before you have been issued with one. If you HAVE to display anything it would be best to use the chassis number.

Cheers

Perhaps just print one off and laminate it and stick it on with double sided tape.
You will only need it for one day if you see what I mean

I'm with SeaBass - don't bother, it'll only annoy some self-righteous policeman. Just make sure that you've got all the necessary paperwork (driving licence, insurance and appointment letter) and allow sufficient time for any delays that may be caused by such an officer.

On my SVA visit I was 1 hour early, which gave me loads of reserve time and meant that I could unload, get a cup of tea, etc. and then get my car at the front of the queue.

Have fun!
David

Ok, scratch that idea, I'll just leave it as it is.

I wonder how many people have gone through speed cameras too fast on the way to the sva test? (and got away with it)

Apart from anything the speedo could be out!

Talking of speeding/speedos, On the way to my SVA I noticed that I was doing "35 mph" whilst keeping up with everything else on the motorway. I guessed - correctly as it turned out - that one of the 2 magnets had fallen off, so adjusted the speedo settings (doubed or halved, can't remember which) to fix it. At SVA the speedo was within limits

A few years ago i was told by a traffic copper that is a £30 fine for not diplaying a number plate but upto £2500 for displaying an incorrect number plate.

I wouldn't put anything on the car.

Thats right. Better to have nothing than to display incorrect plates.

Same as a tax disc better to not have one than one from another vehicle.

For first SVA I use black insulation tape to spell out 'SVA' on the back, but as folks have said, you don;t need to display anything.

The other issue is if you fit a plate, even a blank one, SVA are within their rights to fail you if the radii aren't to spec.
