Cheap moped or scooter in NW

Bit of a long shot this one but its worth the ask...

Does anyone in the NW somewhere have a restoration project festering in their garage or shed that would appeal to a 16 year old if it was finished and that they'd like to see the back of for not much money?..... the reason I ask is that I know a young guy who is keen to learn about cars & bikes but his part time Dad is the usual waste of time and he's been seriously let down a few times by his paternal grandfather who's promised to show him the ropes. He's going to help me build my Sprint/Hillclimb car but I've got a bit of extra space in the garage and I thought it would be good to have a project more immediately relevant to him. The idea being I'll buy it and supply the tools/expertise and he'll rebuild it and have a reason to get a job to earn some money to buy parts (I'm well aware it'll end up actualy costing me more than the inital purchase price ) and then when it's finished I'll sell it to him for what I paid for it..

Obviously nothing without a V5 and I'm only looking to spend about £100 - maybe £150 but the cheaper the better!..... anyone?

Superb motorbike which is EWTDWM here:

Time warp bike almost as new here:

But possibly too big for 16 year old and worth more than £150 (but could possibly be persuaded on price if its for a good cause such as this)

Last time i was at a bike breakers he said he was getting "loads" of scooters in, i think they were the results of insurance claims and most were runners with cosmetic damage

perhaps you could try a breaker or maybe the police auctions as above

But beware ones that have been stolen had their ID removed and cannot be returned to road use (assuming that is the eventual goal)

Regards

And good luck (we all bitch about the "youth of today," it's nice to see someone actually helping one of them along the straight and narrow, especially when he's not your offspring, my hat is officially doffed)

Frank

ps. If you find something in the North East and i can help in any way, please let me know
