tyres wise, there's:
yokohama a048r and a032r(but i'm not sure if they're discontinued),
toyo r888,
avon acb10, ZZR and CR500

they're the conventional track sticky tyres that are road legal off the top of my head

the ZZR, R888 and a048s are the most slick looking
tom

looking on the avon website, only the zzr is available in 17"
think all the rest are availale in 17s though
i have r888s on my car btw

Have alook at the wheels on my now sold GTS in my pics these are for sale with reasonable road tyres. They do have some kerb marks but would be reflected in the price.

Cheers

Yeah, go smaller than that. I've seen one with 17s that looked really bad. Makes the car look, as said, BAD, and not in a good way.

Is it just acceleration that drops or also other things? Is the handling much worse?

The stiffer the tyre the less the slip angles this means you get much less warning at the limit of adhesion -- you can't have as much fun sliding the car about.

The tyre side wall supplies a lot of the suspension movement on a Sevenish car.

Look at the tyres on F1 cars much the same situation (although for different reasons)

Do you live anywhere near Leeds?

I have a set of mulitspoke 17's that have been clogging up my garage all year!!

To be fair they could do with a re-furb and probably a new set of tyres (2 are ok - i think)

£50 and they're yours.
