Zetec

Hiya all.

Following the responses to my poll the other day I've decided to get myself a new donor.

Had a quick look on fleabay and my local car auctions today but nothing really stood out.

How much would you guys be looking at spending on say an early mondeo with the 2ltr zetec lump?

Anywhere else that you would suggest I look?

I would have thought an engine from a breakers (save you the hassle of getting it out) would be £150 ish...

I used http://www.gmhpartspeed.co.uk/, probably not the cheapest but not too bad and they deliver.

pre 95 2.0L failed its mot on the exhaust £142

keep looking and one will turn up. Dont just rely on ebay, look in peoples gardens. If you see one that looks taty and has no tax in the window knock on the door and ask. Whats the worst they can say ?

Keep looking on ebay , I was patient and have just got a 1.8 zetec with gearbox and all ancillarys for £50, said to have done 60,000 miles and having removed the cam cover it looks like new,, unlike the last one I bought unseen from a breakers that had every available cavity and all the breathers full of sludge.

I bought mine from a scrap yard £80.00 pre 95 so no problems with needing a cat or emmissions so just banged a set of twin 40's on
