Sierra Master Cylinder
Does anyone have a Sierra master cylinder they would be willing to part with?
Must be the Bendix type with the front outlet pointing up, like the one below
Has part number K0236 311809 079 on one side.

No. Tried loads of places but none of them sell replacement seal kits for Sierra master cylinders. Besides which, I know the cylinder bore is scored
on ours. We could use a different master cylinder but we'd have to mess around with the brake pipes and quite possibly other stuff too, so while
the weather's miserable, I thought I'd try and get hold of a replacement master cylinder the same type as the one we have. Bit of a long
shot but worth a try.

Hi
When do you need it? Is it urgent? I think mine is like that and currently it doesnt fit my pedal box. If I can get a replacement then I am willing
to part with it but until then I want to hold onto it in case I have to resort to modifying the pedal box.
As with good comedy its all down to timing!

P.s. I understand that under EU law replacement seal kits are banned. You need to send the whole master cylinder to an approved reconditioner.

my little austin had a fully seized master cylinder. I honed it out using a small 3 legged hone and sourced some seals from a hydraulic supplies
company. Boreham I think, you can make your own hone using a pice of dowel and smooth emery paper in a drill I used this method on another cylinder, I
used brake fluid as the lubricant. Both cylinders lasted with no seizing or leaking.

brakes international sell new ones of that type. that's where I bought mine from.
Wasn't that expensive either but it was two years ago, worth a try.

just checked it's £90 bit steep.
They do though sell a service kit BMS1216 which should contain the relevant seals etc so if you can salvage yours it might be worth a go.

That's £90 without the VAT and postage and packing on top. They don't sell a seal kit though, I rang them on Monday and they told me
I'd be lucky to get hold of one in the UK.  May have something sorted though, hopefully.
