Wanted: Old Enduro/Thumper

After having tried tintops out for a few years and finding out I have no ability to sit in traffic without my blood boiling I've got the urge to go back to bikes, so...
Anyone have a 650ish old enduro type bike sitting around that they no longer use?
Looking at KLR, KLX,MZ, Dominator/DR type machines, nice simple and slow! (and can greenlane if need be).

Edit to add: 'Fixer uppers' also welcome and distance no object as long as you don't mind a courier picking it up.
Cheers
KevD

I'll take whatever comes second best, been looking for something for ages now, XL250 500, XT, anything big four stroke single seems to make silly money..

Just fancy something I can get on and ride in draggin jeans and a decent jacket, always feel 'obliged' to one peice suit up to ride the R1....

Hmm, I'm sure half the bikes I've looked at on Ebay this week has been in Sheffield, we must both be looking in the wrong places!
Honda NX650 Dominator | eBay for instance, but too far for me, just right for you if you're quick

Also R1_Pete, know anyhing of THIS shop? They had a couple of good'uns that have gone off their list today. I nearly bought one but for some reason got an uneasy feeling about them?!?

Word of advise - get one with an electric start.

DO NOT assume you will be able to kick start a big 4t.

I had a crf450r supermoto, it was ace when it would run, but I spent £400 on engine work to try and improve cold starting. Nada.

Took it to a track day at rowrah, there were 20-30 seasoned supermoto lads there, every bugger had a kick of my bike and failed, except one old bloke, and one young lad. They were the only two who could start it, and then only on a proper hydraulic stand to stop the suspension absorbing the kick.

I flogged it in the end, knowing it was perfect, but as a spares and repairs cos I couldn't kick it, and a few who came to view couldnt either.

Lost about £1k on it, flogged it cheap as a non runner - dude who bought it handed me the cash, jumped on and booted it over first kick. I was GUTTED.

Turns out its from years of owning the xr650r. I shudder to imagine what it would be like miles down a green lane, and you stall it....

Cheers, that is very true, and I was looking for one with electric start
As it happens I have a 1987 CR500 supermoto thats also had the head skimmed a couple of times in the garage and that's a monster to kick over, it's broken my foot (cuboid bone?) twice in it's life when it kicked back and I'm scared of it now, it's going up for sale after having been completely rebuilt then left in the garage 5 years ago
And yes, I was wearing proper Mx boots when it snapped my foot!

Wimps.

It's all technique. The only time I struggled to start my CR500 was after a big off, but then I realized a bit of my knee was missing

I always wanted an old XT, a nice early 80's one would be the ticket.

I had a Maico 490 that did that kicked it in full MX gear it spat back, threw me off and broke my right ankle (for the second time) as i wapped it on the bars I then ended up in a heap, mates (sic) pissing themselves..... I sold it for a KX500 which im sure was just a bloody bad.....

I did a bit of welding on a Yamaha XT600 and I pushed it home rather than try to kick it but I bit the bullet and had a go at starting it to take it back. I got the hang of it after a couple of false starts and then it was second nature to wind the piston to the right place before jumping on it. The bloke who bought it was a giant rugby player and he just threatened it into starting no trouble They're not cheap at the moment as everyone wants them for winter hacks.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Never heard of B&B Lancashire's a fair distance from me.

Guess I'm missing them because I don't know the model designations, must add NX to the occasional search.
