BEC drop-in, track proof engine package

Morning all,

I'm on the lookout for a ready-to-go BEC engine package for a project I'm starting. It will need to include loom, clocks, airbox, sensors, ignition, reg / rec, ECU, fuel pump, Power Commander and so on - plus ideally a sump / oiling system that is track-proof (I appreciate each engine varies slightly in it's requirements) and uprated clutch springs.

Doesn't need to have a lot of power, 120bhp or so would do it, more the better though obviously! Would prefer injection to carbs

Budget - would like to keep it capped at £1500, which I think is realistic.

So, if anyone is doing some swapping around this winter on their car, this is your opportunity to get rid of the existing setup

I'm based near Preston, Lancs so up North would be ideal, but I do travel to UK tracks every now and again plus have relatives near Northampton.

Cheers,
Adam

FI as in Forced Induction? Not sure if I've cocked up somewhere, but to make it 100% clear - haha - I don't want a turbo piece of crap that's gong to blow up any second As standard as possible bar the mods listed to clutch and lubrication would be perfect.

Haven't got the time / inclination to mess about splitting a bike unfortunately, cheers for the link though!

fuel injected

for £1500 i'd expect you to get hold of a nice R1 5VY from 2004 - 2006, breather mod, simple baffle pate and away you go, 170ish bhp aswell.

i think bang for buck they're the best bike engine out there.

I wondered if that's what it might have meant... but couldn't get past the F. I'm clearly a retard

That's the sort of thing I was thinking yeah. Have seen a full 5PW setup that's currently in a soon-to-be-stripped bike, would need a sump baffle but gives me enough change from the top of the budget to buy the chassis tubing - just seeing if anyone else had anything.

If you can find a 5vy it was a whole new motor and quite a step forward from the 5pw which is very similar to a 4xv ad 5jj but with a very basic fuel injection setup, Sorry If that's teaching you to suck eggs

There was a 5VY setup on ebay late last week with about 10k on the clock for £700 or so, the chap was breaking up a whole bike, Maybe worth taking a look at the completed items section

Do you need prop , adaptor exhaust, loom, air box induction and engine for £1500

Cos just the above bits new will cost that much?

Thanks

Thanks for the info - not a problem! I know a little bit about these engines but not loads, thanks for info!

5VY setup sounds good, will have a hunt for that. Thanks again.

Prop, not needed, will be chain drive. Exhaust not needed (although a bike manifold might help), but the rest would be. The 5PW on eBay at the moment is £1250 for everything I've asked about in the first post apart from sump baffle. Tempted to chuck a cheeky offer in...

If you see a decent 5vy for sale don't muck about as they are getting harder to find. I was after one a while back and they don't hang around.

Cheers sdh - I'll keep an eye out!

I'd love it Jon, but my budget and the spec of the kit you have don't seem to align unfortunately

Found a K2 GSXR 1000 with under 1000 miles on it, all accessories, plus billet sump and swinging pickup. Just need a Power Commander hopefully... It was originally sold through Mal at Yorks Engines so hopefully it's decent - but hasn't been used since.
