There isn’t a lot of choice for a bolt on solution.
Ttv do a jag flywheel but A) it’s £500 and B) it’s for the race clutch that doesn’t suit the Rx8 gear box.
Ttv do an St220 flywheel A) it’s £400 and B) the ring gear doesn’t match the Jag. Clutch does though.
The Rocketeer uses a much thicker alloy adapter plate so the offset probaly won’t work.
Early Mondeo / Cougar 2.5 v6 uses a single mass flywheel, they are cheap at around £30~50 but it will still need modifying for the Jag ring gear found
on the auto flex plate.
Thanks for the replies lads, I have done all the usual internet searches etc, and I have read the threads which you have both contributed too.
I suppose I am looking at getting a solid mondeo flywheel and having the ringgear milled off and my s type ring gear put on, then balanced.
The ttv f/w does look great as does all of the rocketeer stuff, but like you say, very pricey.
Do you have any pics of the way you have sorted it out on your cars engines.

As above the ST200 flywheel with the ring gear mods is by far the cheapest,I paid £50 For flywheel then I had the RX8 bell housing machined down to
allow for the adapter plate and the ring gear mods for just over £100 at a local machine shop.
I am going the same way as Kev when I find a local machine shop, I have the parts.
But I do have a nice Ttv st220 flywheel and clutch to sell on but it will still require the ring gear mods. I bought it asumming they would share the
same ring gear I may get them both done if not while the machine shop has tooled up to do one.

Did you have to strip the box down before machining, also did you run into any mounting problems regarding the loss of the 10mm from the front of the
bell housing, the adapter plate i have is from the guy on Faceache that makes them up to fit a lot of different engines to rx8 5 or 6 speed boxes.

I saw the thread regarding the rolling road session using msq, it was very interesting with impressive results, however it seems to be cheaper and
easier to just buy an emerald ecu . What are you guys running ?
The bell housing comes off the box yeah,I did a write up on Facebook on the RX8 adapter plates page with pics as it's abit tricky refitting the
bell housing.
If you don't machine down the bell housing the gearbox input shaft won't reach the rear of the crank to go into the spigot bearing.
Also by machining the bell housing down you guarantee the clutch plate is sat fully in the splines on the shaft.
I use the oem ecu on all my projects. They can be had for £20 and can still be mapped.
Sabre tuning have one transplanted into a cougar on ther fb page and are getting 250bhp from a remap.
I've got some nice exhausts for mine so I hoping for a little more.

Will get a price from a courier and let you know.
Regarding the ECU, I went Megasquirt because it does everything I wanted and it is £300 cheaper than the Emerald
You can specify what extra outputs you need for £5 each, including Dual Maps, launch control etc. The extra work involved to get the VVT working was
£3 for a relay and an hours work yesterday afternoon.
Bw. I thought that the oem Ecu's were factory locked, so have you got your engine running on an s type Ecu ? If so did you sort it out yourself
or get someone to do it for you.
I have just sent sabre tuning an e-mail to see if they can help with the oem Ecu and rolling road setup.
40i, regarding the msq, I can't find one less than around 600 quid ?. Did you build it up yourself?.

It’s just an ecu. There are a few extra sensors over aftermarket but it’s just an ecu.
There are a few tools now available to Jo public so you can recode keys and stuff but the mapping side of things is still specialised over here. State
side it’s more common to tune the Oem than go aftermarket as the mot requires the standard ecu to say yay ok.
So yes you plug it in and go, but the trade off is the cost of the ecu an£ now you can have them mapped as well.
I like to start with a full car, infact the poor old st went to the scrap yard last week. It’s jus a case of working it back.

Well after reading through that lot I agree, bw certainly knows his stuff.
As I bought the engine without the car so to speak, it looks like I would have to buy loads of stuff to try the oem Ecu.

Bw, I have just found an Ecu with keys, lockset, steering column, but it is for an x type 3 litre, am I right in thinking it will make no difference
with it not being an s type.

Does the x type have the vvt ? I think it does, the st220 does not . I see that as a plus point. I had a quick look and it appears the x type does run
the ford ecu, the s type does not.
I know there are differances on the st220 between pre and post facelift but I havnt had time to explore that yet.
I don’t like spending people’s money until I have tested what I preach so if you can give me a few weeks to get it fully stand alone as I’ve only
played with it in the Mondeo up to yet.
I know it’s not for every one. The St170 thread is just one, there are others for Zetec E’s, Zetec Es’s and the Focus Rs. I fitted the plain Zetec to
my first car and it sailed through Iva and that ecu cost a quid. Torn between the four and the six I’ve gone with the turbo Zetec for my current
winter upgrades.

I'm on MS because it's already fitted in my car.
It's a really simple engine to run,only thing that needs abit of fabrication is the fuel rail as the Pressure is electronically controlled by
ECU as standard.
I've just welded on AN8 fittings to match my current pipework removing all the original FPR parts etc.
Going to stick with batch fire injection so just TPS CPS CTS required to run it
I can’t say about the Jag but the st220 fuel pressure is done by a regulator in the pump.
You can see the two lines, suply and return and you can see the regulator in the pump.
