Wishbones!! (with added Self Centring)
OK, no matter how much i ignore them, my wishbones have not magically learnt how to self centre..
So, I need to buy some new ones.
I dont want to move the brackets, so I want some new top bones.
ANyone know who makes bones for a book chassis, but with the correct top bone sconfiguration??

I would start by measuring between the centres of your top and bottom bones and working out on paper the castor angle.
I would start by drawing a line 6 degrees from vertical (if you want 6 degrees of castor) and marking two horizontal lines at the wishbone centres.
These two lines should intersect the 6 degree line.
Draw a vertical line from the bottom intersection to pass through the top horizontal line.
If you measure the gap between the vertical line and the 6 degree line on the top wishbone, this will give you the actual distance to move your top
mounting point back.
Get your old top bone and draw the outline and centres on a piece of wood.
Remark the top balljoint at the distance you measured on your drawing.
(Towards the rear of the car is the direction you need for the top bones.)
Redraw the wishbone to meet the new balljoint location.
From that you can remake your bones.
Get someone else to weld them up.
At least you will know that they are right this way!

thanks for that.. just need some string and a bit o trigonometery flip...
So, equiped with dimensions, who can make me some wishbones?
anyone had MK/GTS/anybody else make them up?

24mm will give you 6 deg of castor.
Mnr will make set to measure as will Mk if you can provide drawings. Other option is Ace sports cars do a rose jointed set of top bones. This means
you will be able to shim it back in the standard brackets. I dont think you will get 6 deg but think you will get 4 to 5.Image deleted by owner

with ours as standard we are getting 6 degrees on a road car and can run up to 8 on a rosejointed setup via spacing, we have for some customers moved
the lower wishbone bottom joint forward and top back to help with articulation of joints when running large castor

cant see how moving the centre line 24 mm would give me 6 degree of castor though...
maybe my brain is leaking...
