Rover 200 1.4 16 valve
Hi all
This may sound strange but I'm looking for a Rover 200 /25 (bubble shape) - it has to be 1400cc and a 16 valve. I'd prefer a three door
and don't mind if it's a bit untidy and needs engine work (head gaskets seem to be a popular failure!)
I'm watching everything on eBay but if you know of anything else I'd be grateful.
I'm planning on doing some of this next year.
Regards
Wyn

Hi John
The Rover has proved competitive in endurance rallying - the 1.4 16 valve is a great engine, pretty strong and gives 104 BHP stock.
My reason for suggesting the bubble shape is purely because it will sit within the age and price bracket I'm looking at!

The 200 / 25 is also very similar to the MG so doesn't look too dated.

Hi Liam
What year is it?
Is the 1.6 the same engine (K series) as the 1.4? If so, a swap should be easy enough.

I shouldn't really have mentioned it wyn, as selling the rover is conditional on us buying a new car and we are not sure whether we are doing
that yet. are you in a hurry?
yfi
its a p reg 216, first year bubble shape, the 1.4 engine is dimensionally identical to the 1.6.

Hi Liam
Sorry - don't want to pressurise you! I'm not really in a rush but, as usual I'm very keen to get started with this!
Another reason for using the K series is the regs for endurance rallying allow a change of ECU and I just happen to have an Emerald ECU sitting in the
single seater which I could swap back and forth. I think the Emerald is a straight replacement for the K Series ECU?

if i do change the car though, you can have first refusal.
the emerald is directly plug compatible with the rover mems ecu, it supports all of its features inlcuding iacv and immobiliser
did you decide not to use the emerald on the single seater?

Thanks Liam
The Emerald ECU is on the single seater - it's going back to the rolling road next week so hoepfully it'll be running right after that - I
had some difficulties the first time - wrong coils!
It's a 2 minute job to take the ECU out of the single seater so I could swap it into a K series Rover, plug in the laptop and change the map for
the Rover - this way I could gain a few BHP and add some of the nice bits like shift light, rev limiter etc..
