Can certainly recommend the XE.

It is spoken about in the same breath as the Ford Zetec on here, but they are TOTALLY different animals, the vauxhall unit has a 35hp head start on the zetec.

The Zetec compares well to the vauxhall Ecotec 2.0, and they have similar std power, similar outputs when modified, and similar narrow head castings, "tucked into the corners" small valves etc etc.

My XE is std apart from decent rod bolts, decent tubular 4-2-1 manifold, and 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies (bought secondhand) plus and MBE ecu (also secondhand) and decent fuel and ignition mapping.

Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion retro car restoration and tuning
