Cam Change step by step

I need to change the cams on my Zetec and wondered if anyone had a step by step guide to doing it.

I've got the Haynes manual but its not the easiest thing to follow.

Thanks

Ian

Great had a look and it is better than the Haynes version. Still a bit doubtful about my ability to do it though.

All the talk of dialing in the cams, if I am changing from 1.8 standards to 130 Escort Gti spec are they a direct fit in the same orientation as the standard ones coming out.

Im thinking as long as I set to TDC and lock them in place with the tool on replacement then there is no need to dial them in. Is this correct.

Thanks

Ian

Thats what I did, worked fine. Bit of 5mm thick bar to lock the cams (actually a bit of building bracket stuff from wickes, perfect) and some more of the bracket to make the holder for the camwheel. That is important, must be held solidly while doing the sprockets up. Wound the thing round a few times checked it all still lined up, and then checked a few more times, just in case. Job done. Dont forget to get the tensioner right too, cant remember that bit but I kept checking that too.

Thannks thats great info, actually bought the proper kit for locking, at £12 from ebay it didn't seem worth the effort to make.
