I would think you would only get them with another set of back plates.

What have you done to them ?

Did you get a flywheel ?

ebay?

there are two companies advertsing in classic ford mag that do s/h spares. if you struggle, then u2u me and I'll look them up.

and below is mk2 escort, which looks different to yours - I post a photo so that you know what to not get, maybe compatible but I doubt it. Rescued attachment DSC03625.JPG

Thanks both....
Hi Warren....having pulled the half shafts and swapped the back plates it improves the situation with the actuator hitting the panhard rod. Next I cut the "T" section off the arm which helped further but there is so much free play in the arms before they start to act on the brake shoes. Need a new pair really.
Also...still haven't got the flywheel although but been top of my list this week.

well ive got a 2.0 you can have free gratis 1.1kg more than the 1.8.

Ive also got a 1.8 cvh complete with the clutch.
But that does mean running a trigger wheel on the front of the crank. It is lighter than all the zetec flys

If the only problem is the location of the lever it's not a big job to rotate the back plate to a better position and then re-bore the mounting holes in the back plate.

I'm pretty certain the Mk1 Escort brakes are the same as small Triumphs.

There are loads of Triumph specialists, Moss have them listed:

Sorry forgot to check this thread for a few days.

Standby while I get pictures from the missus she's the official photographer

To rotate the backplates I removed the four halfshaft retaining bolts and partially withdrew the bearing. The backplate is a good fit over the bearing and is held central to the axle. It's then just a simple matter of roatating the backplate to the desired position and re-marking through the bolt holes in the axle casing.

I'll look pics out as soon as the missus finishes making chutney

Cheers
Davie
