wiring design software....
I may just being lazy, however instead of my scribble all over bits of paper for my wiring diagram is there any free software that will enable me to
put something together I can read and understand if I don't look at it for 2 days?

Maybe something here will help link CADVANCE looks like it may do you.
Although I use AutoCAD

I use Dia http://projects.gnome.org/dia/ it's not strictly designed for circuit diagrams but its free and works well
Rust is lighter than Carbon Fibre!

I have found ExpressSCH (part of ExpressPCB) really good and easy to work with, can add lots of notes along side, can easy export to bitmap image for
printing etc
Its free, no limitations at all
