Any one got surplus decent Sierra steering boss? Not eKtor

I purchased an eKtor Sierra steering boss from ebay, came as described no issues with supply and packing etc.

But the casting internally rough as a badgers!

Spent quite some time last night trying to get it to fit the column. Filed sections, had burr drill on it etc. got to to sort of fit, then stuck on the horn rings to find they would not lock in place.

Gave up and hit the thing with hammer putting dings in it.

So OK not going back in this state.

I guess it is you get what you pay for. Anyone local to Blackburn have one of the good makes I could try or surplus to requirements, I could try and buy if it fits.

I guess not all will be crap, but when comparing the ford steering wheel to the eKtor they are worlds apart.

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

My car uses a Fiesta Column and I have made a boss by cutting out the aluminium centre from the OE steering wheel and screwing an aluminium adaptor disc to go between the steering wheel and the hub.
I did use a lathe to trim the ford wheel centre.
It is cheap and may be worth trying if you do not mind sacrificing the Sierra wheel.

Thats exactly what I did, the boss's available are all rubbish, mine was so bad the steering lock wouldn't engage Rescued attachment Crappy casting.jpg

just got mine down to the centre hub, will have to look for what to use to make up the bowl to match new wheel.

Perhaps part of the eKtor piece of scrap.

break for lunch
