Jaguar 5 speed manual box (XJ, rwd type)

I know there are a few jag nuts on here!

I'm after a manual XJ gearbox (XJ40 or X300 type) plus a 3.2 or 4.0 flywheel and clutch (are they the same, I assume they are??)

Doing a manual conversion on an XJR6 engine.

You get two sorts, in 3.6 XJS's and the later 4.0 both Getrag I believe.

You really want the later one, it has an integral bellhousing and was fitted to the XJR salons as well. make sure you get the prop and flywheel (its a dual mass thing).

I paid £250 for mine, an extra £100 for the prop as they had scrapped the car and left the prop on the shell

They do come up on Ebay occasionally, I waited a few months.

Regards Mark

Yea we're looking at later 4.0 (and 3.2) cars not the earlier 2.9 and 3.6's

We missed a complete manual car for £200 the other day....arggh!

Woudl be much cheaper for you to find a full car and strip it.

Might be worth phoning jagbreakers (0161 723 4630) or eurojag (01325 722777). I have dealt with both in the past and have found them both very helpfull.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Yea that's really the plan. Just wondered if anybody on here had already done it then abandoned the plan.......

On the plus side, we won the auction for the XJR6!!! £770 for a good runner, reckon I can get £300 to £400 back on other bits and weigh the rest in for £200............cheap 330hp!!
