Steering Column Bush
Trying to locate a steering column bush for the column on my locost race car. Its a sierra column as far as I can tell and its the nylon triangular
bush that sits inside the larger diameter column that I am after - the one that the smaller diameter column slides through and into the larger
diameter one.
A photo of what I am after - its the white bush at the right hand end of the photo where the column slides inside itself.

Hi. It's a standard part which you should be able to get from any motor factor.

Interesting as my local ford main dealer has told me they arent sold separate and you need to buy the entire column, hence posing the question on
here.....

yes, this may be an option other than buying a new column just to sort a 5p bush. Damn Ford Stealers.

Ah, again this is not the correct bush kit - thats the one thats for the column to bulkhead I believe.
I will photograph mine tonight so you can see the problem.

If its just the circular plastic bush with the triangular hole in it then I bought one from ford 5 years ago. The local dealer said he didn't
have one in stock but could get one by the afternoon. Cost was less than a fiver.

I wish it was but its not. Its the bush that fits inside the column, not outside. Its a triangular white nylon sleeve.
i think a better photo is needed

Don't pin it. it's part of the colapsable colomn I think, pining it will stop it colapsing....

If you can grip the bush and pull out the sliding section of the column it will come with it. Cut strips from a margarine tub, put it inside the
sleeve and push it back in. It has to have some play to let the column collapse and when the column is in place it does not move in and out until you
have a crash.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I follow your thinking but I feel the original bush being brittle and cracked is beyond repair and it really needs to be a new one.
The bush needs to be a snug fit otherwise there is play on the shaft and it got picked up on at scrutineering at Brands.
I do however have some photos now so apologies for the confusion, but this is the bush I an after:
