Cancelling IVA

Does anyone know what the penalties are if you cancel the IVA at short notice? My appointment is for Friday this week and the list of jobs is still longer then I would like!! How much will it cost me to cancel?

as long as the major work is done, i would suggest to get the car through. You might have missed something that they will pick it up and on your retest you will be able to rectify them.

I think if you give 3 days notice you can rebook for a later date, less than 3 days you will lose the £450. ring the vosa centre where the test is asap to rebook

As said above, if you can cancel without losing the fee, OK, otherwise it would be cheaper to get it to the test centre and come away with a definative check list

dont forget that if he turns up with something that is well off being finished they will refuse to test and you still loose your fee. i think it says on the appointment letter how many days/hours before the test you can cancel.

rather than cancel i would ring and try to rebook.

As above - it has to be a decent attempt at a roadworthy car, otherwise the testers won't go near it.

You won't lose all the money if you cancel after the deadline though. I failed to get to the SVA due to low oil pressure, so had to cancel on the morning. I had to pay in full for the new test, but was able to reclaim a fair part of the original fee later on. I think I ended up losing about £100 instead of the full fee.
