wtd: exhaust studs, 55mm long?
i need some exhaust studs do to my new spaced out exhaust, but i can't seem to find anywhere to buy them. the only ones i can find are £2.50
EACH! can't remember the thread on them, its either m6 or m8, its a vauxhall 2ltr ectoec if anyone knows the answer to that one

Easy get some set screws or threaded rod and cut it/them down to length.

are they actually ok to do that way? i thought of it, but didn't know if there was some heat treating on them, or if they were hardened or
something?

No just standard steel, its what I've always done for the last 40 odd years and never had a problem.

They used to use them so they dont seize on the stud but modern manufacturers dont bother so why should you.

Best to cut the studs from A2 stainless steel studding. another good trick is to use studding extender/joiners/connectors as nuts.
Studding joiners are very deep nut about 8 times the depth of a normal nut this covers the exposed hread of the stud gives you a much better chance
of getting the nut off after it has been on a few years.
Do an ebay search on "Studding M8 stainless"
