can i borrow someones trailer for a day?
Evening all,
I need to transport my car to powerspeed in kent to have the exhaust done. I have had two friends check their trailer sizes. one is an enclosed
trailer (but its an inch too narrow!) and the other is an open trailer but its 7" too narrow.
so im out to plead to fellow locostbuilders if i can borrow a trailer for a day to take my car from coventry in the midlands to Ashford in Kent (would
also appreciate if i could borrow for a second time to pick the car up approximately 10-14 days later!)
Is there anyone in the midlands area that has a trailer big enough for a DAX Rush, the front measures 5'8" (68" across the front
wheels and 56" across the back wheels.
Also, what are my alternatives if i can't borrow one, how much would it be to rent one?

To give you some idea, the place I rent mine from is £25 a day plus VAT. For that price it's not worth me owning one!

Everywhere I went to rent one for moving my celica wanted in excess of £75 a day. It'd be lovely if a kind owner could loan the guy a
trailer.

If one of the trailers only fails by an inch can't you just wip the front wheels & wings off and borrow some old steel's from someone
or a scrapy?

Ive never seen em as cheap as £25, but I often get one for £40 and once for £35. Like Chris says, it's not worth owning one at those prices...
To be honest, it isn't worth borrowing one off a friend either...

Alex, I was thinking about this... would it matter if part of the tyres overhung slightly i.e. weren't on the boards? Just wondering how wide
they are and how much of the tread would be on the board and how much off.

Have you got temporary wheels on the back? Seems a bit unusual for the back to be a foot narrowr than the front??

The smaller trailer is £25 a day, plus VAT but still cheap. You get the trailer, two big ratchets, wheel straps and the winch. Be aware though that
they put a £200-ish deposit on your card, but I suspect that's standard for most places.
Really good guys there, been using them for years. What's reassuring is that I broke a light the time before last and they were very fair about
it, just charged the cost price of the light unit (I'd looked it up beforehand so I knew). That's important in my opinion, especially
when they're holding a deposit.

Barwell Trailers - Thumbs up from me too
I`ve also used Barwell Trailer Hire 3 times now to shift a Tiger and 2 Westfields. He`s a top bloke and the trailers are all in excellent condition.
On your doorstep too. Speak to Carl there.
As a note to others he doesn`t just do car trailers, he hires enclosed box trailers, camping trailers, horse box trailers etc etc.
