Idiots Guide to car wiring please ?
I have managed in life being useless at most things, but am particularly useless at anything electrical.
Anyone want to part with any layman's car wiring books ? The little Fiat is in need of a full re wire, so while I am looking forward to it I
also need to prepare my head for what is coming. I might finally conquer my fear of the dark art of wires and electricity.
I was looking at the haynes ones yesterday in halfrauds, seemed canny.
Likewise any good websites on a a sparky theme too...

Well, I find it real easy, very similar to plumbing in my mind.
As far as wiring go's I find using a donor loom and following the Haynes manual very easy, stripping out all the unnecessary bits..
My Jago needs a full wire up and so far i have a Suzuki SJ loom, Nissan Note and a Sierra one, not to mention the V8 engine loom. A combination of all
them should get me going

Youd do well to start making a wiring diagram specific to your car. I did one for mine and it worked first time.
I use software called LiveWire.

Have you thought about one from premier wiring? Or a similar pre made one? I've user one in ky kit and instructions are fairly easy to follow

Kit Car Electrics by Peter & John Wallage, comes up on eBay now and again.
Good book and fairly cheap.
I got one for about a fiver not long ago.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

As already mentioned a Premier loom is best (easy) option. Cost around £100 and so easy to install.
