WTD: haynes roadster style chassi

ok i have a rough idea on what im wanting to do and due to not wanting a full build as i want to work through it and learn as i build ive dicided to start from preferibly where someone has left off, so im on the lookout for a chassis which has the full indipendant suspension style setup or is missing its rear end so that i can have that style end welded on.
i have so far a 1.6 pinto (from a freind) but im looking for parts rather than flat back as i cannot weld very well.
been over to mk recently and seen their kits (if i had the money id have had the indy r chassis kit their and then) and thats the style im intrested in but im not wanting to go silly money. so looking for stuff bit by bit

also could people tell me the diffrences in chassis as seen that the locost is a bassis ive heard of +2 like the haynes roadster and then +4 not sure the name but whats the ron champion come under or is it the old cortina solid rear end ??

im learning so dont laugh to much

I think you're thinking of the McSorely chassis like mine which come in various flavours, mine being a +442 which means its 4" wider, 4" Longer and 2" higher than a standat Ron Champion book chassis which means its ideal for tall fat blokes like me

If you search for Jim McSorely you should get to his site for a bit of bedtime reading.

If you defo want a Haynes then maybe take a shifty on the Haynes forum http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/index.php

Cheers

Rich

Yeah signed up the otherday but not much joy, ice heard of them and wundered what +442 stood for thankyou for that. Haha think thatd be better for me as i get described as a 6ft tall rugby player due to the wide shoulders and lately wide beer gut. But been in a mk indy the other day was nice and tight so thinking something wider for me as im going to fit padded bucket seats as not keen on the bone shacking fiberglass. How hard are the +442 chassis or started project to gind? and whats the price diffrences

You're more than welcome to come and sit in mine if your up my way, before 2 weeks though as it gets loaded onto a big boat off to Oz then.

Any chassis is the same to build in my opinion, its all about keeping it flat, so a good solid table and clamping things down firmly and ensuring the tubes fit nice a close with no gaps so the tubes don't pull when being welded.

Cheers

Rich
