Speedo Cable

I have a type 9 gearbox with a 90deg adaptor for the speedo cable. Problem is, the VDO speedo I have has a threaded connection the same as the one at the gearbox end. So I need a cable with each end the same as the one that fits onto the gearbox.

Anyone got any recommendations please?

I have/had the same problem on my speedo, so i found a nut with the same thread, and spun it down so it fits inside the speedo cable sleeve, and clamped it up with a very small jubilee cable

seems to work ok!

Ps although still overreads!

there not to clear, but if you turn the nut down so it fits inside the white speedo end, (its plastic on this cable, but my cable end on the car is metal) then i used a smaller jubilee clip than in the picture to clamp the nut in place, i suppse you could glue it ?

I can now screw my cable on to my speedo,

In bits

OK thanks, I see what you mean now

Problem is, my cable is different at the speedo end, like the one below. It's the part that would normally fit under the circlip in the speedo output drive on the gearbox.

So I'll have to try and think of another method.

Wonder if I can maybe cut a small slice out of the side of a suitable nut to slip it over the cable outer, then maybe use a jubille to hold it on after it's screwed in? Hmmm......

Your cable appears to be exactly what i needed!

Your idea of a nut with a slice out seems a good idea

Speedy Cables will make you up a cable with any ends your heart could desire.
