one on ebay, in a car. Atleast, it should be a 3.1 something diff!

and again, this one should be a 3.38:

Cheers JoelP.....I hadn't considered getting a whole car just for a diff. Do you know which years of diesel Fords had the 3.14 diff fitted?
I understood it was only a very short period where 3.14s were fitted & as such, many diesel manuals had 3.38 diffs.
If I could be sure an old banger had a 3.14 diff I'd get a whole car but it would be a real bummer getting a car that turned out to have a
3.38....

true... i have no idea myself. However, you can always swap the diffs over and then sell the car again anyway! so it wouldnt be the end of the world.
or, view it and see if the diff tag is readable.

as far as i know, most are 3.6 but the ones in the 2 litre 4x4 are 3.9
There are companies that can put the LSD gubbins into any diff. I think it was jim who had it done recently...
i u2u'd him to find contact details and he replied...

Took a 3.38 open diff and a 3.62 LSD (off a 4x4 sierra) down to them and picked up a 3.38 LSD a couple of days later.

you're quite right dom, but that is damned expensive! surely the ads on the ford forums would be a good place to look. id just trawl ebay until
one pops up.

joel,
agreed.
wasn't sure how much adam was prepared to pay for a 3.14. they are like hen's teeth these days and command a high premium. i know,
i've got one in my indy.
regards,
dom.

typeR1 - Cheers for the link but it's a bit much IMO. I had a scout round the local scrappies this morning but didn't find anything other
than 3.92.
At least if I get desperate I know I can get one for a couple of hundred. I would rather spend £30 or whatever in a scrappie though - I only want the
gears after all.

Thanks again TypeR1 - I'll pay £150 - I've mailed them.
Bob C: Ta! I've heard that the new 3.14 cwp has questions over it's quality. That may be untrue, but it's enough to put me off -
especially if I can find a good used one.

I've tried everyone mentioned for a used 3.14 diff and nobody has any....
Anyone got any more leads I could try?

The quest for a 3.14 diff is getting a bit futile now . . . Anyone seem any thing, whole cars going cheap would be ideal - i.e. 2.3 diesel and 2.3V6
Sierras.

Trawl the scrappies - I found one a couple of months ago within 1/2 hour of starting to look - if I was that lucky maybe I should start doing the
lottery........
