2010 Ford Fiesta - Anybody ?

Looking at a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Zetec (5 door with 27,000 miles) for a mate on Sunday.

Anybody had one or worked on one and can offer any advice on known faults etc ?

Will give it all the usual checks, but you can't beat experiences of working on or owning one...

Thanks in advance

Good motors. Not come across anything common (other than poor servicing by the dealers).

My mrs has a 59 plate 1.6 tdci zetec s and a very common fault on this shape regardless of model is water leaking into the boot. Dead easy to identify as the boot carpet will be soaked through and the spare wheel well flooded with water. I know this because I am currently going through the process of tracing the leaks and sealing them up. So far I have sealed up the 2 grommets in the top of the boot shut, one is for a loom and one for rear washer hose, these really are of poor design. Also the boot hinge brackets bolted to the car. Checked the car this morning (as it rained last night) yep, water in the boot. Has to be said it was reduced amount this time....so the quest continues.

One other thing was squeeking front brakes, again I believe this is a fairly common fault. I just remove the pads, cleaned everything up and copper greased, been fine ever since.

I put 30k on a 2011 Fiesta Titanium and it was an excellent car. Totally reliable and drove really nicely. Also parts were dirt cheap, a new rear fog light unit was £6 from GSF. Only thing that seemed not great was that the tracking went out and ruined the tyres but I definitely never hit a kerb or anything, the dealer said that they are quite bad for it and it's a common thing for a minor jaunt to put the tracking out.

My son has had a 2010 1.4 Titanium for about 3 yrs. Just coming up to 30000 miles. Nice car but not without issue.
Had an intermittent electrical fault about 18 months to 2 years ago which took main dealers a while to fix. Car would go into limp mode, no power steering, rev counter erratic. Seemed to happen when raining/wet. Eventually decided it was crankshaft sensor, which was fixed under warranty. This seemed to solve problem, until last week when it started again. Same symptoms. I changed both cam and crank sensors and so far this seems to have fixed it again.
