Have you put a resistor inline?

My koso connected to my R1 is like this.
Wouldn't work at all using feed from CDU to clocks,so connected it into wiring from the coil packs as per koso instructions.
Interested in the resistor mentioned above?

On my acewell I had to put a 1m ohm resistor in line to get a smooth reading.

As mentioned, shielding is the other common issue. Best using coax cable (aerial cable) use the core for signal and the connect the outer to earth.

I had a similar problem with an Etb rev counter, very unstable rpm and bouncing all over the place. Spoke to etb and they surjested this diode,

I had already tried a resister.
The Diode did the trick
