Track tintop
Missed out on Carpmarts cooper s but myself and friends are considering them as possible tintop track cars.
Anyone know of any cat c or d or cheap ones around .
Also advice considered on the pitfalls and or cheaply alternatives.

I lost out on the Mini too. Agreed a deal on it, gave a deposit, and the seller then backed out 2 days later and returned my deposit without a
reason.
I looked at Cooper S for a track car a couple of months back but found the running costs and upgrades for them were just more expensive than other
cheap tin top track cars. Ended up buying a Clio 182 from a fellow member on here and I've got to say its awesome. Great fun and the upgrades
are fairly cheap for it too, however there are plenty available with some good upgrades already on as they are a very popular track car.

Had considered them but am a serial Renault hater . However on your advice and reasoning I would consider one also.

As serial Renault lover, I do recal a damp brands day where the only car that stood out to me as looking very stable, fast and comfortable in the damp
was a Cooper, I belive it was a fairly well modded latter shape one (just by staright line speed) but was only similar sized car to my 172 that I had
to let past me. Made me sit up and notice. My only saving grace was the knowledge my car with all suspension amd tyre mods still cost a fraction of
the mini.

As I hate both minis and renaults out of the two I would have a clio what about an St fiesta there cheap now Toyota celica t sport ?

I cant say I particularly like Renaults. As a general rule I think they are awful......... but the clio is a little different. Bang for buck for track
they are exceptional. Just make sure you look for one thats had the dephaser and belts done.

My last tintop track car was a Mk2 MR2 turbo.
Paid £700 for it, great RWD fun.
Just uprated the brakes, put some sticky tyres on, had a ball.

On the cusp of a deal for a 53 plate Clio cup. Cambelt done but not sure on dephaser

As a ford fan i would be looking at st fiesta or focus.
Depending on budget you may even get a zetec powered mk3 or something.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

I've bought an St170 as it was very cheap.
They handle well but to keep up with a Clio its to heavy and under powered.
My solution is strip it and add a turbo for a budget 250bhp and as near a ton as I can get it.

Dont worry, 'IF' it gets noisy there is little or no danger of it failing before belt is due again.

I have a 1.7 Puma that i'd be willing to sell, not sure how popular they are for trackdays - but I know they are considered to be decent motors
(although perhaps 'in period' as mine is on an S reg....).
