What angle do you want? 20deg is much cheaper than 30deg.
Have a look at Plays Kool

I would consider one.
At the NEC this weekend so will try a few sizes on.
What's everyone doing about belts? Do we need HANS approved ones? If so any offers on Danny?
Mark.

You don't need hans specific belts to use a hans.but if you do use hans specific belts then you MUST wear a hans!

You beat me to it Dan. So many people are getting confused about this rule and it is quite simple really. Just use the 3" ones you have and dont
be conned into buying 2" HANS belts, because if you leave the hans at home, thats where you will be going. I and others still use our 3"
belts and in my case with a 20 degree in my single seater. Works a treat and cheap.

In most situations people need a 20 Deg Medium HANS. 30 Deg is really for formula cars and Large is 18" neck or bigger.
So 20 Deg Medium using your existing, in date, 3" harness is the cheapest way to do it. You will also need to make sure your Helmet is approved
for use with FHR.

Just a few points for anyone looking to buy a HANS/FHR.
1. If you wear one the belts need to be racing tight, as in almost can't breath tight.
2. Side vision is quite restricted as you can't easily rotate your head.
3. You need a current spec car racing helmet with posts already fitted to ensure the HANS will work.
4. HANS tends to be uncomfortable to wear for long periods and can cause issues getting out of vehicles (tends to catch the rear of the yoke).
5. Currently the MSA does not require FHR/HANS for Road Going cars in Sprinting.
6. You need a 4 belt harness minimum (ideally 6) which has been fitted in accordance with HANS/FHR spec. The rear belts must be level with your
shoulders or slightly below. If the belt mounts are above your shoulders HANS will not work.
7. HANS offers no side impact protection at all, it is a Front Head Restraint after all.
So if you are looking to buy and use one please make sure your belts are suitable and correctly fitted and that your helmet is to the correct
specification.

Sorry for the highjack - Jeff, am I safe to use my current 3" 4 point Sabelts? I'd hate to have to change them as well as a new helmet and
FHR for the new season!
Belts are in date, and were replaced two years ago.

Yes, they will be fine assuming they are fitted as per the HANS instructions.

Read and digest, especially the belt fitment.

thanks
Other than the belts being quite long (its a clio and they attached under the cage) I should be fine.

If they are long you may need to cross them behind the seat to get the correct angle. Long belts obviously stretch more than short belts (1 inch per
foot rings a bell for some reason) in an accident and can allow the HANS to lift off the shoulders.

I've been using a Stand21 20 Degree Medium for a few seasons, but now looks like I'll need an adjustable one - so happy to move it on if
anyone wants it.
