dome mild steel tube ends weld on

Hi all , ive searched high and low and google . any one know where to get

1.5" dome weld on mild steel tube ends . I can find stainless but would prefer mild steel

Do they need to be domed?

If not then thin slices of mild steel round bar should do the job.

Could you not use welch plugs (core/frost/expansion plugs)? I recall some of the BMC motors use the domed variety.

Go to your local FH Brundle, suppliers of all kinds of wrought iron / mild steel fittings. They keep caps up to about 6".
