LPG car
As title - I'm looking for something LPG powered as a daily driver.
I'm fully aware of everything that's currently on ebay and autotrader nationally.
So if anyone knows of anything else that might be going, let me know.
P.S. As I am - famously - as tight as a coat of paint, it's a cheapie I'm looking for.
P.P.S. No Range Rovers or the like, although a normal saloon up to 3.0 litre capacity would be good

thought the plan was to use the gtm as an everyday driver, wasn't that why you sold a passat or something?

You're right. That was the plan.
That was a stupid plan - a really stupid plan.
I got the car just as it flicked over 100,000 miles and the engine started showing it's age. That's why I've been smoking around in
Ye Olde Mazda, which is actually going like a train.
Strangely enough, I've been offered an ex lotus elise 1.8VVC engine for the GTM - we'll see...
However.
Morrisons have just opened around the corner from my work and they're selling LPG at 29.9p per litre. I do at least 1500 miles a month, so the
thought of paying 29.9 versus 82.9 is very attractive.
Footnote.
Never ever listen to anything I say, especially if is some sort of grand proclamation about using a 10 year old plastic sportscar with a famously
fragile engine for an everyday car doing at least 1500 miles a month.
What a tit....

I saw a LPG conversion kit online somewhere for less than £500. If LPG is that cheap and yours doing those sorts of miles you might want to consider
it as I'm guessing you'll have made your money back inside of 12 months.
If I can salvge that web address from my home PC when it's back up and running (PSU blew up) I'll send it you.
Who the f**K tightened this up!

MY old company car is going up for auction - Premier Auctions in Leeds. Mazda 6 TS Petrol - excellent engine done 105,500 very steady driving, engine
has really come into it's own this lasty 20K!. Get around 37mpg. Worth a look!

You misunderstand Hellfire.....
I am operating right at the bottom end of the food chain. I've done the £20K company car bit, now I'm out to make a profit. Hence it must
be a banger (under £1000 - well under if possible ) and running on lpg.
I may still convert ye olde mazda. It really is a sweet running old warhorse.

I converted my moped to LPG.
I used a 1953 ex MOD frogman tank to store the gas. This is very usefull because nobody can steal the moped or the fuel when you nip down the
shops,the only downside is you look a complete prat when you go in for a Mirror and a packet of fags with an aqualung on your back.

Friend of mine was on holiday in the states and brought an adaptor kit that connected LPG tank to gas mains . Mains gas is around 20p per litre?
naughty but cheap

Don't you have to actually tell them you're doing it...?
I heard of the same issue with running vegetable oil in diesel cars recently - you had to tell the government you were using it in order to be taxed
on it. Have you considered that as an alternative to LPG? Vegetable oil is quite cheap, especially if you get the used stuff out the local chippy...
(I am serious, do some Google searching for more info)
I ran my dad's 1.9 turbo diesel Fiat Tipo on it for a wee while.

That was my point - might go for under £1K (well maybe not!) but isn't LPG either

I've recently converted a Rover 214Si 16V to LPG.
I commute around 750 - 1000 miles a week, so its saving me a fortune.
I fitted the kit myself and then had it inspected and set up by an LPGA approved centre, so I have the LPGA certificate for the insurance.
Just make sure that you get a modern sequential injection system and not one of the old mixer body types.
Car cost me £1200, LPG kit and set up / certification cost me £750. Pay back in around 3 - 4 months
