Alternator arm

I'm using a bedford rascal alternator on a pinto. Using the standard alternator arm I have (from a DOHC 2.0i sierra) it won't reach so I need one that's about 20cm long. Does anyone have one lying around or know which model ford has one this length so I can order one?

Thanks

Just get a bit of steel strip and make one to the right length. You can make a slot by drilling a row oh holes and filing through. That way you'll get exactly what you need.

This alternator arm has a bend in it which I'd like to have. I'd have no way of bending steel that thick The lack of steel is also a problem Thanks anyway though, if I can't find one then I'll get my uncle to knock one up for me

if you weren't in leicester, i'd give you a perfectly shaped bit of steel to do the job, that fits onto the thermostat housing top bolt.

if you go to halfords, you may be able to persuade them to give you one of the brackets from the end of their battery plinth, that has the cable and bits hanging on it. it has the perfect offset to sit right up against the locking bolt lug. they should have some kicking about, but you'll have to put your own slot in it.

if not, have you not got a welder? couldn't you extend the solid piece on that one?

Mines of a Renault 5 arm...You could get one from the scrappie for a quid or so, or a nice shiney one from ebay

Hehe, by coincidence, I did actually get a bracket from a Renault 5 the other week at the scrappies but it doesn't fit, nearly does but not quite there

Put some more washers behind the bolt or make a spacer from some tube.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
