Engine builders in the North West?
I am at the stage of trying to decide whether to purchase a standard 1300 Crossflow and get a local engine builder to rebuild it to 750mc spec (rebore
etc..) or just go an buy an expensive Randall engine. Anyone know of any engine builders in the North West that may be up to the job of building a
half-decent engine (not looking for a front running car but dont want to be falling off the back end of the pack either)?
Thanks.

I don't know exactly where you are, or where the "North West" boundary falls exactly but there is a really proper engine rebuild
place near me called Crewe Engines, based in (believe it or not) Crewe!
They may not be interested in smaller one off jobs nowadays as they do quite a lot of Merc's and often have loads of buses coaches outside their
units but they really did have an excellent reputation.

try component engineering in hapton near burnley, he built my 1700cc xflow for my old westy. He specialises in bda/g's etc etc and is one of
the old school. Dont let the small premises put you off, he knows his onions. He has had a lot of his cars in classic car mag.....think the last one
was a lime green anglia with a bda engine in it .....

Neil is around Runcorn if I remember correctly - he would get my vote (or Randall) if you want a fully built engine as they know what the score is
with 750MC spec engines. If you want machining doing to put an engine together yourself that would be a different question and I would probably go for
Component Engineering as mentioned
