zetec crank position sesor
i have a 2.0l zetec blacktop from an automatic and need to replace the crank position sensor to one from a manaul zetec, also on my wanted list is a
grooved idler pulley so that i can fit to a fabricated bracket to allow water pump to rotate in the correct direction.and i still require a flywheel
from either 1.6/1.8 zetec and cvh starter motor.

I don't think its the crank position sensors that are different between the auto and the manual. It's the housing that positions them
correctly in relation to the back of the flywheel.

so what you are saying is that the original sensor is ok but needs to be mounted in a different place, where is it mountend on the manual?

It is mounted in the same place, but the sensor housing (Ford call it a bush) is different. This photo shows the difference:
The one on the left is a manual housing and the other is from an auto. The easiest thing to do is buy it from your local ford deal as it only costs a
few quid. I don't have the part number to hand, but I can dig it out later if necessary.

pulley's not a log of cash from your local stealership but you'll have to make up an adapter plate to mount it on blacktop pump.
Trouble with this is you're then running the impellor the wrong way and *may* cause cavitation (note: I ran mine for 6 months like this without
problems)
A reverse impellor is available from Quicksilver in the US - see my site for contact details. I swapped to one of these as I wanted to be on the
"safe" side when I took it to Le Mans for the first time (it performed perfectly, BTW)

BTW the silvertop waterpump has 4 mounting holes and the blacktop 3 with a different PCD.
