Hi All,

I have to have a DVLA inspection soon and have been told i'm not allowed to drive there so I'm on the lookout for any kind soul with a car transporter or trailer in the manchester / cheshire area that I could borrow for a day!

and I dont have a towbar on my tintop so i'd have to hire a car/van with one... AAAGHH stupid rules!!

any help appreciated!

(or if anyone knows of a local company that has car trailers for rental)

By whom? AFAIK you are allowed to drive to a pre-booked MOT/SVA appointment.

They gave me a reg number there and i went to Halfrauds on the long journey home.

When's the inspection? I have a car and trailer for a few days next week and the week after. Plus, with a bit of planning can borrow one FOC when needed. Maybe chat via U2U?

the guy at DVLA said it was a no-no, and since i got pulled by the police on the way back from SVA (and it took considerable explaining that time) its probably not something I want to risk again!

every time i'm in that car I notice 5 times as many police vehicles as I do in my tintop!

AFAIK if its MOT/SVA then yeah its allowed. I was told DVLA isnt...

Jubal: I'll send you a U2U

This is absolutely right. Stupid, but right.

Some DVLA offices will arrange home visits which sorts the problem, but you'll end up waiting longer

The Manchester Office came out to my home 12 months ago for my DVLA inspection.

Took longer to unlock and open the garage door than it did to inspect the car.

Ten minutes filling in paperwork, cheque for the road tax, and that was it all done.

Mind I did have to wait two more weeks for them to send the forms out issuing the reg number. Fortunately it was raining then as well.............

John.
