My mates just won this ebay Indy......
FASTdan - 19/11/10 at 12:38 PM

MK Indy 210BHP on eBay (end time 18-Nov-10 17:19:48 GMT)

If it is what it says it is its a bargain I reckon?! Nasty bodywork of course so that needs to go. Sounds a bit ominous though.

Anyone know the car at all? He picks it up this weekend.

whitestu - 19/11/10 at 12:43 PM

It surprises me that anyone would go thorugh all the hassle of an IVA only to fail on the fuel tank and then not put it right and pass.

If what the ad says is true though it looks like a good buy.

Stu

I think he will have problems registering it..

Unless he completely strips it and takes photos putting it back together.

BenB - 19/11/10 at 12:57 PM

That is indeed a bargain if it's as good as it appears. Personally I'd want to see the IVA fail sheet before going over with the cash!

It's VOSA (at Swansea not the test station) that want all that when you apply for IVA and not DVLA. Test application has already been done and acepted so there's no problem there as long as it gets retested before 6month limit expires from the failed test. Get a new tank on it quick and get retested.

Tiger Super Six - 19/11/10 at 01:23 PM

Sorry but that doesn't add up.

It's been bought for a little over the cost of the engine, gearbox so the rest of the car they have given away! If it just needs a change of fuel tank I think anyone can find the time to do that so don't really buy that.

Who passes SVA after a build and then thinks, I don't want to get on the road and get it registered I'll just wait a while. Also, if they did SVA and then IVA they would have known they didn't need the side pods.

Hopefully all of the above is not the case, but personally it doesn't stack up.

steve m - 19/11/10 at 01:31 PM

Although i do not know a thing about IVA/SVA, from what i have read, i cant see a problem
The owner, assuming all the sva paperwork is their, has basicly lost interest ??
a very common problem that affects all of us at times
I suppose installing another tank, and re SVA'ing, is probably up around the £800 mark, so not actually a cheap fix

Just mpw

Steve

blakep82 - 19/11/10 at 01:52 PM

^ i agree. lost interest i think. looks good, and i like the body work

ReMan - 19/11/10 at 02:28 PM

Cant believe the mirrors passed SVA, buat apart from hat I think it looks quite good on a marmite way and the pods/spoiler look well executed even if not to all taste

sonic - 19/11/10 at 04:46 PM

As said above somebody has gone to alot of trouble to make that body kit and it looks well made!
I am not keen on the rear spoiler but the side pods look ok from the side,it would be nice to see it in the flesh.

Even if it is not registered i would have though it would be worth that to break and sell the parts, plus the guy has got alot of good feedback 100%

the front wings have no edging on, I doubt the mirrors will see over the "whale tail" for the visibility test, and wont pass on sharp edges either... so I doubt it only failed on the fuel tank -

As said, it just seems a bit odd, and I'd want to see the fail sheets before travelling to pick it up, let alone handing the cash over.

To be honest I'd want to see a picture of the engine bay too to check all the goodies are there too, as the guy doesnt seem to say the whole story

omega 24 v6 - 19/11/10 at 06:02 PM

Barfing at the bodywork BUT the guy has 100% feedback opn over 100 sales/buys so I'd say hes got a good buy there.

ETA not 100 transactions but 1000 I think he should be OK

SVA finished before October 2009, would mean it had failed and must have been one of the last re-tests. Could be possible though

Make sure you get loads of build pics and all the parts/chassis receipts from the seller. Donor details/v5c. If you can get the pics which he has probably taken while building they will save a huge amount of work. Worth paying £50 extra to get him to search out all he's got and put them on a memory stick for you.

Nigel

Another thought. I wonder if the current owner would be prepared to let you put the car in for retest and registration in his name with you doing all the work and covering all costs. You would need his signature a couple of times but it might get complicated.

looks cheap as chips to me..............keep us up dated

coozer - 20/11/10 at 11:14 AM

I may be wrong here but I thought once you had passed SVA and had the MAC in your hand there was no limit to getting it registered. I thought the MAC was the certificate to say it was constructed to the regs?

Am I wrong there?

Tipster69 - 21/11/10 at 02:30 PM

What's it like then?

omega 24 v6 - 21/11/10 at 03:38 PM

Yes cmon what is it like?? we need an update/end to the question/story.

RK - 22/11/10 at 01:32 AM

I love the bodywork. Sidepods are something I could use, as to register in my province I have to cover the exhaust.

Seems a bit of a "too good to be true" deal though. I don't know about paying for repairs and having him take it through the IVA retest. A bit like moving into a house with the owner's stuff still inside. Legal nightmare.

FASTdan - 22/11/10 at 09:49 AM

Apparently it is every bit as good as the description......and BETTER!

Dont have many details (only couple of texts), but it was all there as described. done 28 rolling road miles. The ad was placed by his mate who undersold it (didnt put kit car in description etc) and the guy was a bit upset to be letting it go lol

Rear wing is a westfield racing pack (?) and comes with front splitter too. Sounds like he's come up trumps on this one

franky - 22/11/10 at 11:25 AM

Good news It looked like a very fair price for what he got.

v10 - 6/12/10 at 11:38 PM

Any chance your mate want to turn a quick few quid on this car ?
