Im looking at a 2-3hour drive in the R1 soon.
Do BEC's like long stints?
Safe cruising RPM?
ChrisS ran his R1 BEC to Lemans with only 1 stop on the way, it was fine we cruised all the way at 70-80. Longest run was about 3 Hrs.

I've done plenty of decent trips in the Indy.
Newcastle - Cadwell
Newcastle - Stoneleigh
Newcastle - Inverness
etc etc
TBH it'll sit quite happily with the rest of the motorway traffic for an hour, but by that time the fuel tank is pretty much empty. So quick
stop, slow fill up (due to having the filler cap in the back panel) then I'm off again. I do tend to wear earplugs when doing more than a 100
miles in a day. Just keep an eye on your oil / water temps.
Mine was slightly over cooled on the water front, but the oil would heat up, so I changed the positions / ducting around the oil cooler / rad to get
the balance better.
I regularly do long trips in mine.
We have done 525 miles in one day no problem.
As with any seven its earplugs and make sure you know your range both cruising and blasting.
I get about two hours running at motorway speeds and i had a very poor ratio diff in 7000 = 70 mph
When i go into full blat mode my economy goes down to that of a 2 litre zetec powered caterham. He filled up in fortbill cat 24 bec 14
Sounds great but when we blasted over the glens my car used the same as the 2 litre.
We are going to germany and france this summer. Later we are doing the alps to transfarg,
Its further than some owners do in ten years in one trip.
Good luck first long haul is stoney and i still have 7 in bits.....
Oh yes very importand to take some oil with you......some of the remote fuel stations dont sell bike oils.......
See you at the applecross or stoney.
My 2003 R1 engined MNR VortX was driven from North Yorkshire to Lisbon, Portugal (unhappily, not by me ) without a single problem - thanks to MNR
for preparing the car for the trip.

I've done 450miles in a day. No problems. I use ear plugs on a long run but thats only because of wind noise.
Bikers do long runs in europe all the time.

I know of a Megabusa that was driven to Greece.
Jon, I have done a couple of hundered miles in a day.
Berks to Bruntingthorpe (150miles ish) - track day - then back, no probs.
I will happily cruise at 8000rpm for a hour, at wich point I normally take a little break to fill up (as my guage is a bit dodgy and I rest my ears
and heat up) but I do know what you mean.
Macspeedy said this mornin it was down to how strong you are....most becs are aeroscreen so its a lottery wether you bum or face gives up first followed by the hearing then the hands/digits.....car will carry on no probs.
im looking forward to driving mine from cornwall to kent when its finished....
I've done 550 miles in a day on my bike, and all at 8k rpm. A car will be much easier than that. Just make sure you are warm, comfy and you wear earplugs. Maybe take a cushion for your butt!
