I'm sure when I originally built my car I was told to put a friction plate in first then 2 clutch plates, then alternate from there until all the
plates are in
I've just looked in the work shop manual and that says to start with a friction plate and then alternate straight away - can anyone confirm what
is correct and how many friction plates there should be
13 plates in total, 7 friction, 6 steel.
Friction, steel, friction, steel etc, so you will start with a friction and finish with a friction.
Worth noting that the first friction to be fitted is slightly smaller than the other 6, ie has less friction area

Just checked it again, I have 7 steels also.....
I bought an EBC kit and it came with 7 of each, I only used 6 of the steels as that made the correct height for the stack in my car and the clutch has been ok for 6k of track miles.
Thanks again, I've just pulled the plates out and taken one out
