Changing SVA Retest Centre
FEZ1025 - 18/9/08 at 07:49 PM

Considering buying a kit which has been completed & put in for SVA, it failed the first time on some trim issues & an inefficient handbrake. It was taken back & failed a second time on the inefficient handbrake. The owner for personal reasons no longer wants to get it finished but the test station it was presented to is over 200 miles from me. Can it be taken to another centre? or is this one of the ring up questions & ask a chicken.

States on the back of the fail certifacate that you have to take it back to original station. Tried to change my retest venue by phone they wouldn't consider it. Rules is rules to them!

I changed from Newcastle to Beverley.
as the TESTER was a UTTER ............ AT NEWCASTLE. he had pleasure in failing the car.

Found Beverley realy helpful and gave advice on how to solve problems.

Sounds a bit like Nottingham then, they seem to have the attitude that they want the car to pass but rules have to be adhered to, but no corner cutting.

Who did you contact to get it changed?

There is always going to be a difference between centres likenit or not, just the same for MOT's, driving tests etc
I don't think they could stop you taking it elsewhere for another full SVA, but it would be liogical to keep a re-test to the same station.

Have you considered that there might be a problem with the handbrake?

Might it be that the new? brakes have not bedded in yet?
Could you help them bed in with some very coarse emery cloth on the pads and disks/drums?
