Ital/Marina Live Axle

Does anyone know what the replacement rear bearings are for the Ital/Marina live axle that is used on Caterham's? I've taken the rear end apart and need to replace the rear bearings. The bearing that is in now is a Hoffman N9661A with one side sealed. However, I've been told they are no longer in business. Does anyone have a current mfg name and number for a replacement?

It is the same as some Triumph bearings -- the Marina used a Triumph axle.

There is a couple on ebay right now but be quick -- failing that try Rimmer brothers.

Further to above unless the bearing is clapped out it might be best to leave it -- the Marina bearing isn't easy to change as like the Triumph the rear hub is a taper fit has to be pulled from the shaft. In my experience of these models this needs a very hefty puller and lots of heat after which is usually comes off with a bang and the puller and hub shoot 4 feet accross the floor !

I have encountered a couple that simply wouldn't budge and as the heat will knacker the oil seal and bearing you could be up the creek without a paddle.

Hoffman became RHP, now NSK-RHP. Your best bet is to try a bearing distributor (plently listed in Yellow Pages) who shold be able to sort something out for you. Almost certainly there will be a new equivalent for it.

Where are you, I may be able to recommend someone?

The Quinton Hazel part number is QWB 440.

Measure OD,ID, and width. Any decent bearing factor should then be able to sort you out. You should be looking for 'Deep Groove' ball bearings, to take the lateral thrusts.
