Iv brought some new wheels for the tin top but one of the tyres is below the legal limit. I car get some cheap used tyres of the bay but they are slightly narrower. Will 235 fit an 8J rim?

it will, I have 225's on a 8.5inch rim..

If its a branded tyre, most manufactures list the range of rim widths that they are suitable for on there websites

Slight hijack but how do tyre/wheel widths work? 8j, 10j etc. What is the 'j' for?

NS Dev - 7/2/08 at 02:07 PM

its the first letter of a german word that's something to do with rims...........

well, i think it is, pretty sure its something to do with the actual bead seat area shape on the wheel, but don't quote me on that!

J = Inches (im almost certain)

'J' is the profile of the bead retaing lip of the wheel
